Reconcile the Truth
Understanding my family dynamics and history helps me reconcile or make peace with my inner soul. When I reconcile the truth of a relationship, it means I understand myself and the other person.
We inherit DNA from our ancestors. When I was younger, I thought that all the good things came from my mom and the bad things from my dad. Now I see that they both had light and dark sides. For example, my mother’s anger came through in tears. I did, and sometimes to this day, do the same thing. Yes, the tears are a release, but it’s also important for me to ask if I am using my tears to manipulate and hurt the very people I love. My dad felt like he was less than. That inner feeling that I am less than is my dark side. I can see my dad in myself when I have that feeling.
Reconciliation is a need within me. The mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual parts of me have to reconcile the truth.
I love this old photo of me (the toddler) with my parents and sister!
