Captain of the Cunuckettes

I started dancing when I started walking!

This is a photo of me in high school.

The Cunuckettes, a hula hoop dance group at my high school, didn’t require good grades, so I was part of that. We developed dance routines and variations of dances using hula hoops. There were twenty-four of us. We had uniforms and performed at football games with the school band. The cheerleaders hated us because we took some of the attention away from them and even performed more often. So here I was with poor grades and hardly making it through high school and I was the captain of the Cunuckettes!

I taught the team how to dance the Charleston which I learned to dance  by watching movies and practicing every day in the living room using the floor lamp for lighting.
