Stone Ritual

Back when I was an Alateen sponsor we had conferences that usually took place in dorms on college campuses. We would write on stones the name of a person that we had a resentment about. Then we’d throw it into water to release anger and frustration. 

Now I have a pile of stones that represent things that I’m not aware of yet. When I become aware that I hurt someone, I write their name on the stone. I let myself feel sad about the loss. At some point when I feel ready, I’ll cross the street and throw the stones in the Gulf. I know when to say hello to something and when to say goodbye.
