Mom

This is a photo of my mom and me in Cape Coral, probably taken in the early 2000’s.

I didn't appreciate my mother while I was growing up. But I really began to appreciate her when we all lived in Cape Coral. I continued making non-verbal amends to her by showing her how much I loved her and by including her in our life. She was always so easy to hug!

Everyone loved my mother. My friends became my mother’s friends and she also had her family and neighbors. She could walk to her sister-in-law’s house, my aunt Ellie. As she walked along, she would pick the neighbor’s fruit. Then she began growing her own fruit. She loved it!

When I turned sixty-five, George gave me a surprise birthday party. It was a big deal because when I walked into the party, Mom was sitting there. I had just been with her a couple of hours before. I was crushed with happiness seeing her and wondered how they got her there so quickly. The next day George gave me a special gift, an eternity ring. We went to show Mom the ring right away because we loved to include her in everything.
