Man with the Beard

Back in the day when I was traveling with the band as a go-go dancer, a hypnotist hung out with us at an after party. One time he asked if anyone wanted to be hypnotized. My husband at the time said: Give it a try. I said: Okay. I was skeptical and didn’t really want to do it. That was my first experience with a hypnotist and I don’t really remember much about it.

Then there was another time, much later, when I was with a friend and for some reason we went to a female fortune teller. During the session she said: You’re going to meet a guy who is going to travel over water. He’ll take you overseas. He has a beard. I was still with my first husband who did not have a beard. I certainly took the fortune teller’s prediction with a grain of salt. Years later, the memory came back. I realized I had met a man named George who had a beard and he did take me overseas to live in London!

Many years after I married the man with the beard and we moved to Plainfield, NJ. Our upstairs neighbor smudged and purified our home while George was away. She’d talk about releasing bad vibes. There were two rooms. One in the back was our bedroom and the room in the front, our office, had Parisian wallpaper. Somehow we decided to switch rooms and make the front room our bedroom. She said there was negative energy she could feel in it so she smudged it. She would always ask before she did anything: Do you want me to smudge this area of the room? I said yes. It was a positive change and it all clicked. We loved the room change.

She said that the house accepted George and me and our tenants. She also did body massages. I thought she was unique and respected her. I was aware that she had special gifts. I’m not the type who seeks out fortune tellers or people who can clear out negative energy. But sometimes it just all clicks.
