Niagara Falls

One of our granddaughters set up a trip to Niagara Falls for her sister, George, and me. We met at the airport in Atlanta and flew into Canada together. I had been there so many times in the past, both as a child and as a go-go dancer on the road.

It reminded me of one of the good parts of my childhood. We’d pack the car with roast chicken, veal cutlets and lemon, and drive to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. We’d stay overnight at a hotel with views of both falls. We’d open the curtains and there it all was. So incredible!

Traveling with the band and seeing Niagara Falls was a different kind of experience. I was always nervous crossing the border because I knew some of the band members hid drugs in one of our cars.

On this trip, our granddaughters wanted to do all the things I used to do as a girl. There are colored lights at night to see and then fireworks. The flow of the water seems to be the same as it was decades ago. George kept up with the girls, but I didn’t. This trip led me to be accepting of my process of aging. Anyway, it was a great adventure. I’m glad we all went!

I bought a pillow case of Niagara Falls as a souvenir that you can see in the photo.
